Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam inaugurated a project of graffiti artwork on the pillars of the Moghbazar flyover this afternoon.

Expressing his desire to make Dhaka city pollution-free and beautiful, the mayor inaugurated the project with a ceremonial brush stroke.

Mayor Atiqul said he has plans to extend the artwork project to the other flyovers and metro rail pillars under DNCC.\

"The graffiti art will create awareness among the people," he added.

Vowing penalties and fines to the offenders, the mayor instructed the authorities concerned to remove the posters from flyovers.

He also announced the installation of CCTV cameras on the flyovers to prevent illegal pestering.

Graffiti artists associated with rickshaw painting are involved in the project.

The artworks will contain several awareness messages -- do not honk, do not put up posters, plant trees to save the environment, collect and dispose of garbage in every three days, let's love our country -- to the people, the mayor said.

He said the project is aimed to create a beautiful city for future generations.
