Fire crews from Malton and Pocklington were called to reports of a grain dryer on fire within a barn this morning. Crews have isolated the power supply to the drier and are using farm machinery to remove the grain and fight the fire. As of 11:15 fire crews are still in attendance with good progress being made. The fire did spread to part of the building but crews were able to quickly extinguish this with a hose reel.

Numerous fire calls were received in fire control reporting a barn on fire. The barn is attached to a farm house. Initially both Skipton appliances were mobilised and upon arrival they requested further fire resources. In total there were 4 fire appliances and aerial ladder platform and a water bowser being used to fight the fire.

Fire Control received a call from Ambulance control to request our assistance with a male aged in his 50’s who’d fallen approximately 30 meters down an embankment and became stuck on a ledge. Mountain rescue teams also attended and used their lie rescue gear to bring the male back up. He was then transported to hospital with a suspected broken wrist. Fire crews stood by with assistance if required.

York crew attended a fire consisting of wood to the rear of a premises. Crews extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet, main jet and a ceiling hook. the cause is thought to have been controlled burning left unattended.

A crew attended reports of a fire in the open. A member of public had already attempted to tackle the fire prior to our arrival. Crew used buckets of water to extinguish the fire which was thought to have been started deliberately.
Time: 15:41 Location: Mickleby, Whitby
Fire control were called to reports of a tumble dryer on fire in a 2 storey property. the caller had closed the door to the utility room and exited the building prior to fire brigade arrival. This resulted in the fire being contained to this room causing 100% to the tumble dryer, 40% fire damage to the room of origin along with 100% smoke damage to this room and only slight smoke logging to the rest of the property. The cause is thought to have been due to the appliance overheating and crews used 2 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel, thermal imaging and a positive pressure ventilation fan to deal with the incident.
